The cotton yarn used in fabrics is generally less than 14.6 in size (over 40 inches), with a light and thin texture, including bleached, plain, printed, and dyed fabrics. The warp yarn used in crepe fabric is ordinary cotton yarn, while the weft yarn is a strong twisted yarn that has been shaped. After weaving into grey fabric, it undergoes pre-treatment processes such as singeing, loose desizing, scouring, bleaching, and drying, allowing the fabric to undergo a certain period of hot water or hot alkaline treatment. The fabric shrinks in the weft direction (about 30% shrinkage) to form comprehensive and uniform wrinkles, which are then dyed or printed, and sometimes treated with resin. It is also possible to roll and wrinkle the fabric before shrinkage, followed by a loose pre-treatment and dyeing and finishing process. This can make the wrinkles on the fabric surface more detailed, uniform, and regular, making it a crepe fabric with various thickness and straight-line wrinkles. In addition, the weft direction can also be alternately woven with strong twisted yarn and regular yarn to create a crepe fabric with herringbone wrinkles
