Triacetate fibers have a high degree of esterification and are insoluble in acetone, but can be soluble in chloroform or dichloromethane. Unlike viscose fibers, in acetate fibers, most or all of the hydroxyl groups on the cellulose ring are acetylated. The longitudinal direction of acetate fiber is a smooth cylindrical shape with stripes, and the transverse direction is elliptical. Due to its low crystallinity and side order, the breaking strength of acetate fibers is poor, even worse in the wet state, but the elongation at break is high, and the elastic recovery is significantly stronger than that of viscose fibers.
