This standard specifies the method for determining the tensile strength and elongation of various types of leather. This standard is equivalent to the international standard ISO 3376-1976 "Leather - Determination of tensile strength and elongation". Principle 1.1 Tensile strength. The test piece is adjusted and measured in the air with the specified temperature and humidity, and stretched in the tensile machine until it breaks. 1. Elongation. Place the air-conditioned test piece in a tensile machine and extend it with force. When the test piece is subjected to a predetermined value of force or breaks, the extent to which the test piece extends. Instrument 2.1 Die knife: used to cut test pieces, refer to the figures and notes in Chapter 3. 2. Thickness tester: According to the provisions of GB 4689.4-84 "Leather - Physical Property Testing - Determination of Thickness". 2. Tension machine: The movement speed of the clamp must be uniform, at 100 ± 10mm/min, and the structure of the clamp should ensure that the test piece does not experience displacement during the stretching process. The force of the clamp clamping the test piece should reach 30oN, which should be applied to the middle part of the test piece. The clamping surface of the chuck should have a serrated surface (not a linear surface). Automatic clamping chucks cannot be used, and the length of one end of the clamping surface in the direction of force should not be less than 40mm. The reading shown by the tensile machine, that is, the force applied to the test piece, should fall on the calibrated dial with an error within 1%. An automatic recording device for recording the force elongation curve can be used if its error does not exceed 2% of the length of the test piece (i.e. the distance between AB and CD in the figure)
